About
I am Aysar Yahya, a Ph.D. student in Communication and Information with a concentration in Advertising at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Ph.D. candidate in Public Relations and Advertising at Anadolu University, Türkiye.
I completed my M.A. in Public Relations and Advertising at Anadolu University, Türkiye, where my thesis examined the effect of advertising disclosure on influencer avoidance. I also earned my B.A. in Public Relations and Communication from An-Najah National University, Palestine.
My research focuses on digital advertising, consumer privacy, data surveillance, and the responsible use of emerging technologies in communication. I am particularly interested in understanding how individuals perceive personalized advertising, privacy disclosures, algorithmic systems, and artificial intelligence in digital environments.
My current research explores the intersection of privacy, advertising effectiveness, and computational social science, with an emphasis on topics such as targeted advertising, cookie consent, the privacy paradox, and ethical challenges in AI-driven advertising.
I have published research articles in the field of advertising and privacy, with my work appearing in journals such as the Journal of Marketing Communications and the International Journal of Advertising. I also participated in the Summer Institute in Computational Social Science (SICSS) at Carnegie Mellon University, where I received training in computational methods, machine learning, text analysis, network analysis, and digital trace data research.
My academic journey has been shaped by an interest in how communication technologies influence consumer behavior and society, particularly in digital environments where advertising, data, and emerging technologies intersect.
Beyond research, I am interested in teaching advertising, digital and social media communication, consumer behavior, advertising ethics, and research methods.
